Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you see children?

A:  We only see children from 16 years or older

Q: Do you see women or girls?

A:  We never turn down anyone seeking help. However, as a personal boundary, I only take on male clients. Nevertheless, in the event a woman or girl is seeking help, I will do my best to connect them with a female therapist specializing in the area they need help in.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: We do not accept any insurance at this time. However, we provide a superbill on the first day of the following month which you may submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement for services provided. However you apply for a Single Case Agreements (SCA) with your insurance provider.

Q: What is a Single Case Agreement (SCA)?

A: A Single Case Agreement is a commitment from your insurance company to pay for service provided by an out-of-network provider. The length of the contract, approval, and reimbursement rates, as well as application response time and approval varies.

Q: How do I apply for a Single Case Agreement (SCA)?

A:  You can either contact your health insurance provider yourself or hire a professional who would advocate on your behalf. If you do choose to do it yourself, chances are that, since most people lack the proper knowledge and are not familiar with healthcare laws, your insurance company will seek to deny your application and dismiss your claim.

Q: How much does it cost to have a company file for SCA on my behalf?

A:  Most companies, in addition to a hefty deposit, will charge between 18%-25% of the total cash value of the approved claims to be paid in a lump sum before providing you with the approval. However, we found that Access to Coverage has the lowest fees in the industry. They only ask for $100 deposit, and $500 upon approval (and no more than a total of $1,000 for approvals acceding $10,000). They are fast and efficient and provide great customer service.

Q: Am I still responsible for payment once a SCA has been approved?

A: Yes. Although a SCA was approved by your insurance provider, you remain responsible for any fees not covered or reimbursed, in part or in full, by your insurance provider.

Q: Do you provide Telehealth services?

A:  Nothing compares to having a face-to-face session in a properly designed therapeutic setting. However, not everyone lives within a reasonable driving distance to the office, or sometimes, coming into the office is not always possible, we want you to know that teletherapy is always an option.

Q: Do you insist on clients attending 12-step meetings as part of their recovery process?

A:  Although I wholeheartedly believe that participation and commitment to a Twelve Step group is central to maintaining a sound and lasting recovery, I do not insist that clients attend Twelve Step meetings. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend it.

Q: Will you report my engagement in certain kinds of behaviors?

A:  In most states, most offending behaviors are considered "non-reportable." In the event, however you did engage in any such behaviors and are looking for help, feel free to consult with us, without disclosing the exact nature of the behavior and we'll provide you with a general overview of the guidelines in your state. Nevertheless, it is highly recommended that you then discuss it with an attorney specializing in this area.
